Meet Tamara Axtell MS, LMHC, NCC
Tamara is a Master’s level counselor and National Certified Counselor who you will find to be approachable and caring. I understand that the process of therapy is about you and will work with you to determine a plan that helps you reach your therapeutic and life goals. Sometimes this is through providing a little perspective, other times through helping you discover personal strengths and learn coping tools to improve your quality of life.
My personal view on people and relationships is that we heal and grow in relationship with one another, and that being accepted by another person in spite of personal issues or challenges can be a catalyst for growth. I also feel that accepting all aspects humanity, both positive and negative, are essential to grounding people and allowing room for grace and self-forgiveness. Through our relationship, I hope you are able to gain skills and confidence in interpersonal relationships in our sessions that they can take into other relationships in life.
I integrate techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Sand and Play-based Therapy, and humor. I also strive to be as direct as possible in sharing with you my observations and concerns about the work we are doing together. I am a member of the American Counseling Association and subscribe to their Code of Ethics.
I want to help you aspire to your highest abilities so you can become the person you are meant to be!
